LG and Samsung may boast of curved screens on their smartphones, but the newly released iPhone 6 from Apple may even have curved bodies, although it appears unintentional on the part of the Cupertino-based tech giant.

Gizmondo reports that several owners of the new flagship noticed a slight curve in their units after several hours of activities that involve a lot of sitting. However, what was ironic was that the phone was on their front pocket of their pants, not the back pocket.

One owner shared his experience in MacRumors forums that he drove 4 hours to a wedding, plus 2-3 hours of dancing. After another 4 hours of driving back home, he estimates the iPhone 6 was in his front pants pocket for about 18 hours. When he placed the phone on the coffee table, he noticed the window's reflection slightly distorted.

His experience was shared by another iPhone 6 user who also placed his unit in his front pants pocket. Gizmondo published the images of their curved phones as proof.

Another iPhone owner, Lou from Unbox Therapy, heard about the bending phone, so he tried to bend his unit with his bare hands, which he successfully did with some effort. Despite the bent phone, the device was running well.

Jeremy Irons, a design engineer at Creative Engineering, points to the thin aluminium frame of the iPhone 6 that covers the back and around the sides as the explanation behind the device's unintended flexibility.

He added that the longer size and thinness of the device contributed to its weak body. Irons stressed, "Strength is proportionally related to length, but strength is affected much more by changes in thickness." To prove his point, he said that it is not easy to bend a cube.
