An iPhone 6 concept image showed off an eye ID retina scanner like the rumored feature in Samsung Galaxy S5.

SET Solution, an Italian company, created a render for an iPhone with retina scanner replacing the fingerprint scanner packed in iPhone 5S. The company believed that the iPhone 6 concept image is the "safest phone ever created," which allows users to unlock the iPhone and log into the App Store and their bank accounts and other services using their eye. The eye ID scanner is placed in the front facing camera.

This futuristic feature somehow looks a huge leap in technology for Apple. Moreover it will make the iPhone 6 expensive to include such a feature. The iPhone 6 concept also highlights a significantly smaller physical "Home" button to accommodate a bigger edge-to-edge display. Furthermore, the device seems to also pack two cameras and two strange-looking speakers at the back.

Meanwhile, ZDNet Korea cited insiders from Samsung saying that Samsung Galaxy S5 will have the futuristic iris scanner for the added security in the device. The sources said the feature is already in the works. Other features already in the development stage are the qHD screen displays with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution and Tizen OS. With these features, Samsung and Apple are expected to have an intense smartphone battle next year.

iPhone 6 is rumored to pack a larger screen display with a size between 4.8 inches to 6 inches. The next iPhone may retain some of iPhone 5S features such as the 64-bit A7 processor, M7 graphics chip and fingerprint sensor. However, new patents showed that iPhone 6 may include curved screen display and refocusable light camera.

iPhone 6 release date is still unconfirmed. Rumors point for possible launch early next year, most probably in March 2014. It is expected to face off rivals from Samsung and HTC.
