Apple has recently acquired a Swedish company called AlgoTrim. The company develops codecs for mobile devices to improve their performance. The products and expertise of the company may be used in the iPhone 6. This could make the imaging and video better in the phone.

AlgoTrim Company works on compression technology. This technology has applications in Mobile imaging, video and computer graphics. The technology is said to improve the performance of a mobile device by reducing the memory requirements.

According to the company web site, the technology offers "fastest decoding speed on the market as well as minimal dynamic memory requirements." The company's advanced imaging solutions provide "super resolution" and are said to bring the "modern computational photography to mobile devices." The company also provides codec for video processing.

According to analysts, if these technologies are used in the iPhone 6, the performance in terms of the user experience and picture quality could be substantially increased. The memory space requirement for the images and the videos could also be reduced to a great extent.

The company has expertise working on the Android platform. In the past the company has helped identify and report bugs in Android. The technology offered by the company is expected to reduce the lag time in the iPhone 6. The compressed library, for instance, can make flipping through a photo album faster.

The company claims that the hardware of a phone is only one part of the equation. An upgrade in hardware from dual core to quad core in the new iPhone 6, for example, doesn't necessarily mean that the phone will be better. The software of the phone should be capable of making full use of the hardware. The major focus of the company seems to be in this direction, enabling them to come up with the suitable technologies.

The iPhone 6 is expected to come with a 4.8 inch retina display screen with a quad core processor, A7 chip which will run on the iOS 7. The camera is expected to be 16MP. The other exciting features could include, eye tracking and a finger print scanner.

The phone is rumoured to come in gold and graphite variants apart from the traditional white and black colour variants.
