The iPhone 6 features may really pack a sapphire screen display as new developments emerged.

New evidence emerged further hinting that the next iPhone will sport a sapphire crystal display as Apple has now obtained the critical process to produce anything between 100 million to 200 million handsets sporting the super-tough screens.

This particular process will also answer the supply issue that was an unseen problem for the next iPhone. This progress is reminiscent of the documents examined by 9to5 Mac showing that GT Advanced company signed a deal with Apple to be in-charge of the production of the sapphire displays.

It is reported that GT Advanced has also ordered sapphire furnaces made up of 518 machines have already been received, with a further 420 to come. GT Advanced's initial 518 sapphire furnaces could reportedly produce just over 100 million displays of around 5 inches in size every year.

This suggests that Apple and GT Advanced are preparing to ramp up the production of sapphire crystal displays for the first batch of iPhone 6 supply. Moreover, this hinted that iPhone 6 will include a larger screen display.

The report added that GT Advanced Technologies will develop "a series of automated sapphire inspection tools that will increase the yield of high quality sapphire material from each boule and ensure that only high quality material enters the value stream." These tools will be used to produce the components of sapphire crystal, which is different from the tools used in the fingerprint sensor on previous iPhone.

The report continued that GT Advanced is in an exclusive contract with Apple when it comes to "Consumer Electronics Products". Thus, it connotes that no other smartphone, but iPhone, will pack the sapphire screen display.

Sapphire glass can be a game-changer in the market as it is rumoured to be scratch-resistant and less prone to shattering and breakage, which are the main problems of iPhone. This could be the main selling point of the next Apple handset.

The iPhone 6 release date is expected to happen in June at the Worldwide Developers' Conference alongside with the new version of iOS.
