Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference made waves following the introduction of the iOS 8. The features of the iOS 8 laid the foundation for what people can expect from devices like the iPhone 6 and the iPad series. To make things more interesting, several reports pointed out some additional details about the iOS 8 that Apple did not discuss. Likewise, a number of upcoming Apple devices failed to show up during the conference but more information suggests they could be the company's biggest releases yet.

According to Yahoo, whereas the iOS 8 will not be available until fall, here are some features people can expect. These features have not been discussed in full during the event but the beta version released to developers suggests some interesting functions to come soon:

  • Battery usage by app - prolonging a smartphone's battery life remains a top priority among users. In the upcoming iOS 8, it will not be a guessing game anymore. The Settings section will soon be able to display accurate battery usage percentages of the applications. This can help adjust user habits to maximize battery life.
  • Different camera exposure and focus functions - previously, the exposure and focus functions came as a package in iOS. Users have to tweak both if they want to adjust even one of the two. This time, iOS 8 allows people to adjust one without affecting the other. They can set the focus then change the exposure through the sun icon.
  • Calendar events and travel time - calendar alerts are useful although there are instances even 15-minute notifications before the event will not do any difference. This time, people can put the exact location and address and the app will figure out how long the user can get to the venue. It will issue a notification suggesting the best time to leave to make it on time.

These are just some of the features people can expect and take advantage in the upcoming iOS 8. Although Apple did not reveal much about the upcoming devices, recent reports indicate the company has been gearing up for the release of the iOS units as well.

Apple iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2

Sonny Dickson, famous for his Apple leaks, posted another set of photos confirming the release of iPhone 4.7 and 5.5-inch variants. According to NDTV, it is the first time both variants of the reported iPhone 6 models have been shown side by side. The leaked photos also suggest that the next handsets took inspiration from the iPod touch's design. Both variants feature slim bezels and metal chassis. However, the devices have not been stamped yet with Apple's logo leaving room for changes in the design. The 4.7-inch model can be differentiated by the gold-colored rim surrounding the home button.

Forbes also reported Apple's possible commencement of iPad Air 2 production. The device will reportedly feature an A8 processor, new CPU including form factor and screen dimensions like the iPad Air. This also makes way for a retina version of the iPad Pro.
