Picture the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 5S as devices with seamless body designs on release date, with "the aesthetics ... greatly enhanced by not cluttering the device enclosure with always-visible components."

Consumers will instead get the newer iOS handsets as "a more seamless electronic device where the components are only visible when they are in use," a new Apple patent was reported by Patently Apple as saying.

Specifically, Apple's invention will create a visual illusion that blurs away existing and upcoming iPhone features such as camera, strobe lights and fingerprint reader. These components simple reappear when needed by user, the report said.

The new system is in line with an earlier patent that calls for invisible or disappearing control keys strategically placed on a wrap-around display screen, presumably that of the future iPhone 6 make.

In practical application, Apple's new manufacturing technique will veil certain iPhone components behind a transparent handset screen display, creating, in the process, a gadget design that "enable the components to remain hidden from view while not in use."

The core purpose of the invention is to achieve enhanced mobile device functionalities while increasing its aesthetic value, the Apple patent said.

Component invisibility is realised by creating 'block spot regions' in iPhone handsets, which are generated when display pixels are prevented from emitting light. This technique will hide the phone camera or other device components from view without really moving away.

"Placing components ... typically be found on the surface of an electronic device enclosure behind a transparent display may increase the surface real-estate of the enclosure for a larger display or additional components," the report said.

One bonus benefit is the possible elimination of component clutters, Apple said, thus "creating a more seamless electronic device where the components are only visible when they are in use."

Apple developed the technology in late 2011, boosting the chances that its deployment will come in time for the upcoming iOS device releases.

Analysts have projected that the iPhone 5S will arrive September this year while the iPhone 6 is set for a June 2014 release date or earlier.
