iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus Preorders In China Reportedly Cross 20 Million Units
The preorders for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus began on Oct 10 in China. With six hours, more than 1 million units were sold. Digitimes states that according to a source from China, preorders for the new iPhone 6 handsets may have crossed 20 million during Oct 10 to Oct 13. The news was made public by a Chinese source called QQ.com.
During the three days, over 10 million iPhone 6 preorders were taken by Jingdong Mall. According to Jingdong Mall's website, out of 10 million, 4.66 million sold handsets are iPhone 6 whereas 4.82 million handsets are iPhone 6 Plus. On other hand, the three leading carriers from China also sold more than 10 million iPhone 6 handsets.
GSMArena claims that the popularity of iPhone 6 Plus is higher than the iPhone 6 in China. Since China is the world's largest smartphone market, Apple managed to reap amazing sales results in China by launching the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C in 2013.
According to Reuters, the reason why the iPhone 6 handsets were not launched earlier in China is because of the fact that the regulatory body of the country wanted Apple to test the devices on the risk of personal data security. Once it was done, the regulatory body approved the selling of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in China.
The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus first went on sale in the U.S. and nine other countries on September 19. China was not included in the first batch of countries. On September 26, the duo smartphones from Apple were launched in 23 additional countries. Even the second batch of countries did not include China.
Apple's new iPhone 6 models are going to release in 36 new countries by the end of October. Both the handsets are poised to release in three countries, China, India and Monaco on October 17. Apple aims to launch the high-end smartphones in 115 countries by the end of 2014. GSMArena claims that Apple may achieve record-breaking sales as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are being sold in the last quarter of 2014 which also includes the end of the year shopping season.
