iPhone 6 release date may be delayed as Apple is adding more suppliers to increase the availability of the recently released iPhone 5S.

The new iPhone 5S proved to be popular among consumers as the device is still hard to find. Apple listed a shipment date of 2-3 weeks after an order has been placed. However, this may no longer be the case as Apple is adding more companies to its supply chain to handle the production of the iPhone 5C as well as the iPad mini.

According to a report from Wall Street Journal, One of the companies, Wistron, is expected to begin production of the iPhone 5C later this year, with the other, Compal Communications, likely to start manufacturing the iPad mini next year.

Wistron and Compal will join the existing Apple suppliers, Foxconn and Pegatron. The report also stated that Apple plans to shift iPhone 5C and iPad mini production to the new suppliers so that Foxconn can focus solely in manufacturing the iPhone 5S. iPhone 5S takes longer time to make due to the inclusion of fingerprint sensor.

According to the latest report from Apple, iPhone 5S sales are doing well and are currently experiencing limited supply. Thus, consumers must not expect an earlier release date of the next iPhone. Moreover, increasing the availability of iPhone5S suggests that iPhone 6 release date may not be anytime soon as Apple wants to sell more units of iPhone 5S.

Rumours claimed iPhone 6 will come with larger screen display with a range of 4.8 to 6 inches. Many analysts predicted that Apple will finally pack a bigger screen on the iPhone 6. Also, the next Apple flagship smartphone may keep the iPhone 5S' 64-bit A7 processor, M7 graphics chip and the fingerprint sensor.

The next generation of iPhone may also include features Near Field Communication and larger internal storage that were skipped in the current handset.

According to a Japanese tech Web site Macotakara citing Mac Fan 2013 December magazine, the upcoming iPhone will come in September next year alongside smartwatch iWatch. However, previous reports stated the iPhone 6 will be released in March 2014.
