iPhone 6 Release Date in June with 4.7 to 5.5 Inch Screen Display – Nomura Analysts
The iPhone 6 release date is set in June boasting of 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches screen display, according to Nomura analysts.
Nomura analyst Anne Lee and her team expect that the iPhone 6 will be released in the third fiscal quarter of 2014, which would be the June in Apple’s calendar. They also claimed that iPhone 6 will have a larger screen size citing their “industry analysis and supply chain survey”.
The analysts believe that the key deciding factor for how large the iPhone 6 screen will end up will depend on how well in-cell technology can be scaled up to a larger size. The analysts' report stated too that Apple is having touch panel manufacturers send samples for testing.
The Nomura analysts also believe that the iPhone 6 will have a 64-bit 20 nm processor, a better camera and a “redesigned acoustic system.” Adding 20 nm processor will keep Apple ahead of its rivals.
According to the latest rumours, the upcoming iPhone 6 features may include a solar wireless charging feature. One of the most common complaints on iPhones is fast depleting battery capacity. This feature aims to provide solution to the said problem.
This feature is supported by a patent filed by Apple back in February. Apple secured a patent for the use of solar panels in portable devices. This integrated touch sensor and solar assembly would involve integrating social cells into a touch screen by using electrodes that can pull double duty as a solar cell and a touch sensor.
Another rumoured feature that is making the rounds is the use of an extremely strong Sapphire glass for the smartphone’s screen display. Apple already used the technology on the cover of iPhone 5S and Touch ID home button. Sapphire glass is roughly 2.5 times stronger than the glass currently used in smartphones, many of which use Gorilla Glass from Corning.
The iPhone 6 could also be the first iPhone to be assembled in the U.S. as Apple signed a $578m deal to open a plant in Arizona with US company GT Advanced Technologies, an expert in artificially producing the harder-than-rock material. The latter will be in charge with the inclusion of the rumoured Sapphire glass on the handset.
The iPhone 6 release date is still unconfirmed. There were speculations that the unveiling will happen early next year. However, reports claimed that Apple is adding more suppliers to increase the availability of iPhone 5S due to its strong demand.
