iPhone 6 Release Date in Late Summer with Hefty Price Tag?
iPhone 6 release date is expected to happen in the late summer, the earliest , according to a report from Highlight Press.
Initial reports claimed that two iPhones are bound to hit the market this year. An iPhone phablet which will start a new iPhone line is expected to arrive in May. According to reports, the phablet will boast a 5.7 inch or bigger screen display and will retain iPhone 5S's 64-bit A7 processor.
Yahoo! Japan first stated that the successor of the iPhone 5S, which is expected to be the iPhone 6, will arrive in September. It is expected that the smartphone will sport a more powerful A8 processor and a screen panel of 4.7 inches in size. Apple may start to drop hints and clues in late August and an official announcement from the tech giant is expected a week ahead of the launch, according to industry watchers.
The discounts on iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are viewed by some to be a proof that the new iPhone may be coming soon. During the recent holiday season, iPhone prices lowered. Although it is not unusual for prices to go down during the gift-giving season, reports noted it was the first time that iPhone discounts were offered so early as the smartphones were launched in September 2013.
Because of the upgraded specs and features that will be packed in the new handset, the iPhone 6 is expected to bear a higher price tag of at least $100 compared to its predecessors. The cost of materials will directly affect the selling price of the handset. The iPhone 6 may boot a price tag closer to the tablet range.
Another factor that may spike the cost of the next Apple smartphone is the boost in internal storage. Consumers may see an iPhone with 128 GB storage. Apple did something similar with the second generation of iPad Mini where the company increased the price of the tablet by $70 after adding a more powerful processor and Retina display.
Meanwhile, rumours suggest that the iPhone 6 will be equipped with iOS 8. It is most likely that the TouchID fingerprint sensor first found in iPhone 5S will be improved with additional features and capabilities. The iPhone 6 may also sport a curved or flexible screen embedded by durable material called liquid metal and reinforced by sapphire glass covering, an improved Siri as well as gestures control, as Apple patents suggested.
