iPhone 6 Release Date In May - Report
DigiTimes reported that iPhone 6 release date is set in May 2014. The report cited unnamed sources saying Apple will release a new iPhone in May with larger screen display and 20nm processor developed by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.
Previous rumors said an earlier release date in the first quarter of 2014, probably around March. However, other speculations started to emerge saying that the next iPhone will be released later next year. Apple may wait for a full year to maximize the profits of the current iPhones.
If rumors were true, these could be the first time that Apple will hold two iPhone release dates that are close to each other. iPhone 5S was announced last September and has a strong demand ever since.
Susquehanna Financial Group's Christopher Caso said since iPhone 5S is doing well in terms of sales and better than expected, it releases the pressure of releasing the device early. He added iPhone 6 will arrive either in June or July. However, he noted it is important that Apple will launch a new iPhone earlier than usual as it needs a device to reignite the sales.
This is supported by experts who claimed that Apple is in a hurry to release the new iPhone 6 because of its rival Samsung. The companies are competing in terms of screen size and new features so as not to trail behind since Samsung is fast in releasing new phones.
According to rumors, other features of iPhone 6 are 64-bit A7 processor, M7 graphics chip and the fingerprint sensor, which were first introduced in the iPhone 5S. Better camera features are also expected to come in the next iPhone. Latest patent from Apple hinted that iPhone 6 will sport a flexible, wraparound screen display that will rival Samsung Galaxy S5.
