iPhone 6 Release Date is Q3 2014: Expect 5-Inch Edge-To-Edge Screen & Extended Battery Hours as Likely Killer Features
The large-screen iPhone 6 release date is likely to happen beginning June of 2014 with the front face featuring an edge-to-edge display panel plus a battery that lasts longer than the previous iOS smartphone builds.
The rollout falls on the start of summer season for U.S. consumers but importantly, Apple is set to deliver a handset that is destined to become a 'blockbuster', this according to prominent Apple watcher Gene Munster.
The bigger iPhone, according to Mr Munster, would become the hottest iPhone build ever thanks to its radical redesign, mostly centred on the front face, in which a new bezel-free screen display will sit and its viewer stretched from the 4-inch seen in the iPhone 5S.
There was no mention of specific screen measure from Mr Munster, per the report by Business Insider, but analysts like Ming-chi Kuo are favouring a 5-inch cap with 4.7-inch as the minimum.
On top of the sprawling screen, the iPhone 6, according to LatinTimes.com, will boast of longer battery hours but not necessarily of a massive battery that Apple will deploy with the next-gen iOS device.
One new technology that will contribute to the enhanced power management packed with the iPhone 6 is eye-detection, which allows the device to automatically kill applications when users are not looking.
This capability is similar to one of the smart features introduced by Samsung earlier this year via the Galaxy S4. However, Apple-centric blog sites insists Apple first invented the technology, pointing to published patents of the tech giant.
Notwithstanding, a reconfigure of the iOS platform energy use fits well with the expectations that a better 64-bit computing standard, which the 5S also unveiled, is coming out of the box with the iPhone 6, indeed making the device a certifiable consumer magnet, as predicted by Mr Munster.
But his summer call for its release, according to Business Insider, is hard to believe when considering the current product upgrade cycle that Apple is following. The more likely schedule is late September 2014 or around the same time that the 5S was outed, the tech news site added.
Also, the iPhone 6, according to ValueWalk.com, is debuting next year with positive outlook coming from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) investors, most of them convinced that the 5S successor will sustain the company's tradition of achieving high profit margins with the iPhone model.
In the end, however, these suppositions on the iPhone 6 killer features and profitability will only get their confirmation come the device's release date, realistically set between June and September 2014.
