The iPhone 6 release date in the second half of 2014 will be a landmark event for Apple as new reports suggest of a large-screen device that most certainly will fly off the shelves even with a $300 price tag.

The significant price mark up for the next iPhone will be readily embraced by iPhone buyers, according to Pacific Crest analyst Andy Hargreaves. Hargreaves told Business Insider that a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will be a sure-fire commercial hit, attracting millions of existing Apple fans and would-be converts.

Consumers will scoop up the iPhone 6 is big numbers because it simply is a better product from its predecessors with shoppers merely brushing off the higher price, said the Pacific Crest report.

Premium products with killer offerings sell as shown by the Galaxy Note 3 issued by Samsung in late 2013. More than 10 million device users have snapped up the phablet at $300, more so the iPhone 6 with a bigger screen from the 4-inch iPhone 5S, Hargreaves explained.

He noted too that there will be a lone iPhone flagship this year, his prediction running in counter earlier forecasts aired by a number of analysts that Apple is entering the phablet market with an iPhone-like device that sports a screen stretched to 5.7-inch.

The analyst's take is seemingly supported by a new Apple patent that according to BGR is designed to extend the longevity and boost performance of old iPhone models, thus eliminating the need for low-cost models like the iPhone 5C or an affordable iPhablet.

Speaking of the iPhone 5C, Apple Insider has reported that the plastic-wrapped iPhone could be the base-model of the design language that Apple engineers will use on the next iPhone,

Actually, the iPhone 6 finish will take after the fused look and build of the 5C and the 7th-gen iPod but with a twist, said the same report that points to Japanese blog site MacOtakara as source.

Apple will ditch the polycarbonate shell that was used in the 5C and instead opt for the anodised metallic material that is found on the iPod. There was no indication, however, if the iPhone 6 would be encased in aluminium body like in previous models or the handset will enjoy a robust Liquidmetal housing as earlier reported.

Also, unlike the projections offered by Hargreaves, the MacOtakara report is convinced that two iPhone models are set be unleashed later this year - one is the regular flagship model with a 4.7-inch screen profile and the other in a phablet-size 5.7-inch display panel.

The latter device is also constructed in heftier finish when compared to the previous iPhone line up, Apple Insider said on its report.

The iPhone 6 release date is expected to take form by late Q3 2014 though there are indications that the unveiling could happen sooner - as early as June or July of the same year with the anticipated plethora of power specs and killer features.
