iPhone 6 rumors: a completely cordless smartphone?
Apple's iPhone 5 hasn't been released yet but for Apple fans it's never too early to start speculating about the next generation iPhone after that. After reports that Apple has already started buying key components for the iPhone 5, fans are already looking forward to the next version of the iPhone.
A report from the Wall Street Journal said that Apple has been testing new ways of charging the next iteration of the iPhone. This has set off a flurry of speculation that Apple will completely overhaul the design of the iPhone. The iPhone 5 has been reported that it will be thinner and lighter with a better 8 mega-pixel camera. The iPhone 6 could be completely different with new features and a way of charging that will be cordless. It's also been rumored that the iPhone 6 will have a bigger screen and a sleeker body.
What is really intriguing about this is the news that the iPhone 6 could have inductive charging. Other phones have been experimenting with inductive charging which uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy from one object to the other; this means that a device wouldn't need a cord to charge its battery.
Inductive cord free charging would also complement the iOS 5's wireless features that can download apps or music without having to hook up to a computer. The iPhone 6 could be Apple's completely wireless smartphone.
Meanwhile, Apple fans will just have to make do with the yet to be released iPhone 5. The 5th generation of the iPhone was due for a summer release but was pushed back to the fall because of production delays. The new launch date for the iPhone 5 has been tentatively set to the end of September.
