Sony recently unveiled the PlayStation 4 and it seems that the latest console will come with an exclusive app that allows gamers to connect their gaming device to their mobile devices such as the iPhone 6.

According to a report from Sony Rumors, the PlayStation 4 will be utilizing a new phone app that can integrate with a home PS4. It is likely that Sony will utilize Apple and Android devices to extend the gaming experience of PS4.

The new PlayStation App will turn devices into second screens for the PlayStation 4, and give players information such as maps in adventure games. The second screen experience will likely be similar to Microsoft's SmartGlass feature that gives players similar information. The PlayStation App will have more functions, however.

Sony is still mum about the rumours of the upcoming PlayStation 4 but it spoke about this potentially new app that is coming to mobile devices such as the upcoming iPhone 6.

"A new application from SCE called 'PlayStation App' will enable iPhone-, iPad-, and Android-based smartphones and tablets to become second screens. Once installed on these devices, users can, for example, see maps on their second screens when playing an adventure game, purchase PS4 games while away from home and download it directly to the console at home, or remotely watch other gamers playing on their devices," Sony said.

Sony's new PlayStation App will also let gamers view live gameplay from their friends and players around the world. The secondary custom chip in the PS4 will also allow gamers to livestream their games as they play them with press of the new Share button.

Moreover, gamers can buy a game from the PlayStation Network (or the PS4 equivalent) remotely, and can play it as soon as they come home. Gamers can play games on the PlayStation 4 before all of the content is even downloaded, so as soon as they buy a game through the app they can play it on the console.
