Apple and Samsung's rivalry continues as both companies prepare for the release of their flagship phones. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) will be releasing their iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5, respectively. According to recent information, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will arrive sooner around March or April, while the iPhone 6 will hit the market in November. With the two tech giants releasing new phones, the question is now which smartphone will deliver better?

iPhone 6 Super Slim Screen

Apple has a proven track record of manufacturing notable products with water-thin build or design. Every new iMac launched appears to have slimmer monitors. What truly impressed the market was the release of the iPad Air. Apple managed to manufacture a light tablet without compromising functionalities. The company remains one of the leading players in producing high-end and well-designed products.

According to a number of leaks, Apple is working on making the iPhone 6 even skinner than before. The super slim screen will reportedly revolutionise smartphone market standards once more. This makes sense, as the company has banked on its designs to increase market share and value of its products throughout the years, according to analysts.

While Apple is not alone in selling its products successfully based on design, the market has long praised the company for its affinity to aesthetics. Apple delivers high quality products with premium designs. The price tag though has long remained on the more expensive side. If the reports are true, the iPhone 6 will feature a slim chassis, possibly slimmer than 2 mm. This will make the device the thinnest around.

Samsung Galaxy S5 in March/April

Since Bloomberg's report, more analysts believe Samsung will release its Samsung Galaxy S5 around March or April. A Samsung official reportedly said that the company will follow a similar timeline as the Samsung Galaxy S4. This means an April release is likely. If Samsung pushes through with this, it means the company will get a good 5-6 months head start from Apple.

Apple, on other hand, appears to be targeting holiday sales instead. According to reports, Samsung will include eye-scanning technology on the Galaxy S5. This will rival the TouchID on the iPhone 5s. The eye-scanning technology will be used for security purposes and other functions like turning off applications when the user is not looking at the screen.

64-Bit Processors

According to reports, the next A-series chips will feature a 14/16 nm process. However, some analysts find this hard to believe because the A7 chips went through the 28 nm processor. Still, if Apple wants to boost the performance of the iPhone 6 exponentially, it is possible through the smaller processor. This will also offer better power efficiency. Samsung, on the other hand will feature the Exynos S COU. This will run eight cores at the same time. It will also come with a 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM for a more powerful performance.
