Initially, we have compared the iPhone 6, iphone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 based on their design, screen and camera. Apple and HTC offered a more premium feel with Samsung lagging because of its plastic chassis. This comparison offers look at the potential performance of Apple against the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8. Processor, CPU, RAM and other configurations will also be looked at.

Processor and CPU

Apple sticks to its own as it announces the iPhone 6 with the 64-bit A8. The company set the standards for mobile processors when it released the A7 chip and it is not settling this time. The A8 chip is a dual-core system that increases the clock speed from 1.3GHz to 1.4GHz reportedly according to Tech Radar. Apple also claimed during its event that the A8 chip makes the iPhone 6 series faster than the previous iPhone flagship. It is also 50% more efficient in terms of energy use. The company also claimed the RAM to be quicker. However, the 1GB RAM may be too small compared to existing competition.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 runs with a Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5GHz. It also offers more RAM at 2GB. When looking at the specs plainly, Samsung appears to have the more powerful systeup. However, this is not case on actual use. Samsung does not have the control Apple has over its 64-bit silicon and 64-bit software. It can maximize the functionality and optimize its iPhones that Android devices still cannot achieve. In a series of benchmark tests including the one from Anandtech, Apple's much older iPhone 5s still performed better than Samsung Galaxy S5. The logic is that if the iPhone 6 is better in every configuration aspect than the iPhone 5s then it will certainly post better results than its Samsung counterpart.

The HTC One M8 comes with a Snapdragon 801 SoC. It also has an impressive and solid quad-core Krait CPU although the Adreno 330 GPU may be of a downside for a number of people. According to Extreme Tech, there is no doubt about the performance of the A8 impressing users. The M8 "motion coprocessor" also supports better sensor capabilities while also reducing sensor power consumption. The HTC One M8 comes with the same function although the company did not market the feature similar to Apple.

Health

Samsung and Apple already expressed and started their venture into the healthcare industry. Samsung offers S Health while Apple offers Healthbook. Both systems have been designed to work with other external components like Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Gear. However, the efficiency of the Apple Watch with the iPhone 6 can be fully evaluated in 2015 when the device comes out. The iPhone 6 did not include a blood pressure monitor as opposed to previous reports. Similarities between Apple and Samsung include sensors for barometric pressure, temperature and humidity. Apple may have a little edge over the S5 because of its M8 motion coprocessor capable of monitoring elevation and distance. HTC paired up with Fitbit for its health approach on its M8. It stayed away from building a health initiative from scratch. The app is pre-loaded on the device sparing people from purchasing. The app can be tweaked to display third-party information.
