Apple's reported big screen edition of the iPhone 6 shows more potential by the day. According to recent reports and studies, Apple has a bigger chance of selling more units and rivaling Android smartphones with a large screen display. The iPhone 6 will be launching with two models: 4.4 inches and 5.5 inches. Can the big screen really make any difference?

Unlike Samsung, Apple has always stuck to its size or range of smartphones throughout the years. The company did not branch out to other sizes and just refreshed products once or twice a year. Apple only went as far as producing variants like the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. This time, it appears the tech giant wants to take on a similar approach as Samsung.

According to reports, Cupertino-based company wants to put out a phablet version of the iPhone 6. Analysts support the idea saying that it can boost the company's performance. Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty said Apple can increase iPhone production up to 66 million units next year if they opt for a bigger screen. This is against the 51 million units predicted if Apple will not change the size of its handset series.

As reported by Apple Insider, Huberty's findings were drawn from a study surveying smartphone users. According to the survey, people are more likely to switch to iPhone or buy a new iPhone if Apple puts out a bigger screen version. As much as 47 percent of the participants said they are interested over a bigger iPhone. The company stands to gain more if it can product a phablet device.

Samsung has benefitted greatly from big screens through its Galaxy series. Large displays have an appeal of their own.

"Current iPhone owners value the software, brand, ability to synchronize to other Apple devices, and the App Store's quality and size more than the average user, which drives Apple's high loyalty rating," the study explained.

"The top criteria across all brands are longer battery life, software / operating system, and lower price, though current Apple users think price is of lesser importance."

A phablet iPhone can also change how carrier partners will work. The company and these carriers may offer incentives to present subscribers to make the switch to a wireless setup.
