iPhone 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime: Release Date, Price and Specs Face-off in Australia
Apple's iPhone 6 is set to storm the market with the rumoured August release date but Samsung is keen to overtake Apple with the rumoured June 12 release date of Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. So how do the two smart phones fare against each other?
Price
Both iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5 Prime will be in the same price range upon its market release. According to Expert Reviews, iPhone 6 is expected to cost around £580 which translates to $1,050 in Australia. Meanwhile, PC Advisor mentioned that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will be around £600 which translates to $1,086 in Australia.
Design
Expert Reviews also stated that iPhone 6 takes the design cues from iPod Nano and iPhone 5C. It will have an anodised aluminium body with a curvier look. It will reportedly use synthetic sapphire glass for its camera cover and will be available in the same color choices with iPhone 5C. On the other hand, PC Advisor mentioned that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will have gold metal casing from the portion to the back and a perforated red cover similar to Samsung Galaxy S5.
Camera
The above-mentioned sources also cited that iPhone 6 will most likely have 12 megapixel camera as anticipated by most industry observers. It is also expected that it will use light field technology and optical image stabilization (OIS). Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will have a 2 megapixel front-facing camera and a 16- megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization.
Display
According to Know Your Mobile, iPhone 6 will most likely come out in the market in two sizes. One will be a 4.7-inch model with a full high quality (HD) 1920 x 1080 pixels display resolution. The other one will be a 5.5-inch model with a full HD 2272 x 1280 pixels display resolution. Meanwhile, Digital Trends stated that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will have 5.2-inch display with full HD 2560 x 1440 pixels screen resolution.
Processor and OS
The same sources cited above stated that iPhone 6 will have A8 processor with 16 GB of RAM running on iOS 8. While Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will come with 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor bundled with Adreno 420 GPU, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage capacity running on Android 4.4.3 Kitkat.
Apps and Other Features
Expert Reviews also mentioned that iPhone 6 will most likely sport Touch ID, and other apps previously available in iPhone5C. On the other hand, PC Advisor also stated that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will come with Samsung's TouchWiz user interface. It will also have dust and waterproof capabilities, fingerprint scanner, and heart rate monitor.
Apple has remained tight-lipped on the release date, price, and specs of iPhone 6 but Samsung has set June 12 for its "Tab into Color Galaxy Premiere" in New York. It is expected that Galaxy S5 Prime will be unveiled during the event.
