iPhone 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy S5 – Will 2014 Be All About Screen Tech?
As Apple and Samsung brace for launching their respective flagship devices, leaks and rumors are buzzing online. The most talked about feature is the technology in the screens of iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5.
Apple is reportedly working on 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen iPhone 6. The larger screen smartphones will allow Apple to compete in all smartphone categories. The company did not respond to the highly successful Note series from Samsung.
Samsung is also rumored to getting ready in launching two devices. With the sales of Galaxy S4 apparently not meeting the company's expectation, the early launch of Galaxy S5 is expected to change the fortunes of the company.
One feature rumored on both iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 is the fingerprint scanner on the screen instead of the bezel. The touch sensitive screens on both devices are expected to read the fingerprint of the user. This feature can be used by the owner to unlock the device and possibly use it to make mobile transactions.
If iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 do not depend on the bezel for the fingerprint scanner, it will allow the companies to bring a larger screen device to the market while keeping the overall size of the phone small enough for users to handle with one hand.
Samsung is reported to roll out the flexible OLED display the company showcased in the CES 2013. Readers should note this is different from the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Round, which had a curved display.
With changes in screen size, material used to new technological innovations expected from iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5, 2014 may be the year of the smartphone screens. Gadget enthusiasts are excited to see who will emerge victorious in this round.
The stakes are high for both companies as iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S4 were not free from criticism despite being considered great phones. The race between the two companies will be followed by other competitors. Many new smartphones are expected to unveil in the World Mobile Conference in Barcelona, Spain between Feb. 24 and Feb. 27.
