iPhone 6S Release Update: Faster 2 GB LPDDR4 RAM And Powerful A9 Processor Expected
While the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus received record-breaking reception, consumers are now preparing for the next big release, that is expected to be called iPhone 6S. Reports suggest that the device is already in the pipeline as Apple sends out special event invites scheduled on March 9, when it will launch the Apple Watch.
Rumors hint that Apple Watch may be in stores early April, while at the same time the company focuses on the next big release of its smartphone devices- the iPhone 6S. In the device design, Apple may step up the amount of its RAM coupled with a faster RAM technology- the LPDDR4, says G for Games via TechNews Taiawan.
The iPhone 6S will feature 2 GB LPDDR4 RAM modules that are likely to be supplied by Samsung, Hynix, and Micron-Elpida. In iFixit teardown analyses, Hynix and Micron-Elpida were already identified as suppliers of the RAM for current devices (iPhone 6S and 6 Plus). Of the primary suppliers of LPDDR4 RAM modules, Elpida was reported to be behind schedule but the company has improved its manufacturing process in order to meet the demands of Apple.
According to Mac Rumors, the Apple iPhone 6S is rumored to have the same design as the current iPhone 6 though there will be internal improvements including the use of the 14nm Apple A9 processor and a dual-lens DSLR camera. Besides, reports have also hint that Force Touch technology (used in Apple Watch) may be incorporated in the design of the flagship device in order to differentiate the quick taps with the forceful presses.
But it has not been made clear how such system will be implemented on the device since it might require a major shift on the display technology considering that Apple Watch makes use of both flexible OLED display and electrode sensors in order to support the Force Touch technology features.
As far as the March 9 event is concerned, Apple is also expected to launch a new MacBook Air, says Value Walk. It is expected to sport a very thin design compared to the predecessor models. It is speculated that the ultra-thin laptop will not feature full-sized USB slots, memory card slots and MagSafe connectors, but will house a higher resolution screen. As of this writing, Apple has not confirmed anything on the upcoming iPhone or MacBook Air and their features.
