The official release date for the Apple iPhone 7 remains a mystery to date. To date, there has been no confirmation on whether or not the Cupertino-based company will be launching its upcoming flagship smartphone this year, or if it will opt to release it in 2016.

According to Value Walk, Apple might choose to launch the next smartphone model a year later in order to build up on the success of the current iPhone model.

Although no release date has been confirmed for the iPhone 7, it has been rumored that the material that is going to be used for it has already been settled. Street Wise has reported that Apple will making use of the 7000 Series, which is the aluminum material that they used for the Apple Watch Sport.

Apple reportedly “holds an exclusive license” over this special Liquidmetal, which was developed by Atakan Peker. He once mentioned in an interview that this alloy invention of his will still be used globally “three to five years out.” If his predictions pan out to be true, then it would seem that the iPhone 7 series will be “lighter, slimmer, and stronger.”

To make the upcoming flagship handset long-lasting and more durable, and not easily bendable, Apple will reportedly add sapphire glass to the construction of the iPhone 7. Once this has been accomplished, it is expected that the body of the upcoming smartphone will be approximately 60% stronger than the iPhone 6.

This is reportedly a logical choice for Apple, considering that the American tech giant was slammed for durability issues for the iPhone 6 edition. They had to deal with some relatively humiliating comments when the iPhone 6 made it to the headlines due to the “bendgate” issue.

Although the iPhone 7 will not easily bend once placed inside pockets, it will reportedly feature a bendable screen, according to Venture Capital Post. As stated in the report, the unit’s unique screen technology will also come with touch-sensitive layers.
