iPhone 7 price in Australia: Vodafone announces postpaid plans, offers discounts to students, existing customers
Vodafone has beaten its telecom rivals in Australia for coming up with the first postpaid plans for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus shortly after the Apple Event in California.
Vodafone announced Friday its 24-month postpaid plans that customers can consider getting instead of paying the full price of an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 device. The cheapest iPhone 7 model costs $1,079 in Australia while the most expensive iPhone 7 Plus model is priced at $1,569 at Apple Store.
But under Vodafone’s Red Plans, customers can get a 32GB iPhone 7 device for paying a $76 monthly fee or a 32GB iPhone 7 Plus starting at $85 per month. Following Vodafone's 24-month postpaid plan, the cheapest iPhone 7 would eventually cost $1,824, while an iPhone 7 Plus would cost $2,040.
“Vodafone is more excited than ever to bring our customers the latest iPhone on our best ever Red plans; which gives customers the freedom to tailor the value in their plan so it works for them and not the other way around,” Ben McIntosh, Director of Sales, Vodafone Australia, said.

To entice Apple customers, Vodafone also made limited Red Data Plan offers worth $90 or $70 designed for data-heavy users.
The $90 Red Data that includes 11GB costs $96 a month for the iPhone 7, including a $6 phone payment plan. It costs $107 per month for the iPhone 7 Plus, including a $17 phone payment plan.
On the other hand, the $70 Red Data plan that includes 6GB starts at $87 per month for the iPhone 7, including a $17 phone payment plan, while it starts at $98 per month for the iPhone 7 Plus, including a $28 phone payment plan.
Vodafone Australia also said iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners qualify to the “New Phone Every Year” offer for students and existing customers. Under the promotional offer, students can get 10 percent discount on SIM only or Red handset plans from $50 a month. The Student Offer starts Sep. 9 and ends on Nov. 29.
Meanwhile, existing Vodafone customers are eligible for a 10 percent discount on all 24-month plans for their second service device.
“We are also very excited to announce the launch of our ‘New Phone Every Year’ program for tech-loving customers who want to spell an end to their ‘fear of missing out’ (FOMO) and enjoy a new iPhone every year,” McIntosh added.
