iPhone Jailbreaker to Work for Apple
Apple has hired Nicholas Allegra aka “comex”, the 19-year-old hacker famous for his one-click site JailBreakMe, which makes removing the restrictions on Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices as simple as clicking a link.
"So, the week after next I will be starting an internship with Apple." Allegra announced over Twitter, where he has almost 180,000 followers.
In an informal Q&A on Reddit, Allegra admitted he would no longer be supporting the jailbreaking community after his internship at Apple.
The current jailbreaks and site, however, will not disappear.
“I’ll hand them over to MuscleNerd or chpwn or whoever will take care of them,” Allegra said.
Comex is expected to help the tech giant spot vunerabilities in its software.
“It feels like editing an English paper,” he told Forbes magazine.
“You just go through and look for errors. I don’t know why I seem to be so effective at it.”
Allegra isn't the first iPhone hacker to go legit. Earlier this year, jailbreak app creator Peter Hajas also joined the company.
Apple iPhone hacker Ashley Towns scored a job at iPhone app developer Mogeneration after creating a worm that targeted jailbroken iPhones.
