Jennifer Lawrence of the 'Hunger Games' to Appear on Academy Awards
The Academy Awards get a taste of 'the hunger'
Jennifer Lawrence, or better known for her "Hunger Games" counterpart Katniss Everdeen, is set to appear on the Academy Awards.
The 21-year old star was nominated as best actress for last year's academy awards for her performance in the film "Winter's Bone". Sadly she lost to the Oscar to "Black Swan's" Natalie Portman. Apart from the said movie, Jennifer also appeared in the films "X-Men: First Class" as the young Mystique, "The Beaver" by Jodie Foster and "Like Crazy" by Drake Doremus.
Lawrence's performance on "Winter's Bone" may have caught the attention of Hollywood but the actress first broke into the mainstream in the TBS sitcom "The Bill Engvall Show" in the year 2007 until 2009.
Now, Lawrence won't be taking the stage as a winner this year but instead she'll be taking the stage to announce the nominees for this year's Academy Awards. Joining her to announce the nominees is president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Tom Sherak.
The two are set to reveal 10 of the nominees for the Academy's 24 categories live on January 24 at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Information regarding the nominations taking place on the 24th of January will be distributed to all the news media in attendance.
The Academy Awards is set to take place on February 26 with Billy Crystal hosting the show.
Fans of Jennifer Lawrence will have to wait for her appearance on the 24th and a few are already waiting for another eye-catching gown to be worn by the actress. Her body-hugging red dress that she wore at the last Academy Awards surely made headlines despite her Oscar loss to Natalie Portman.
As for her role as Katniss Everdeen in the much awaited "Hunger Games," the film is set to be released by March 23. However with the increasing demand and "hunger" for more, sales of the tickets will kick off a wee bit early by February 22. Joining her in the film would be "Little Manhattan's" Josh Hutcherson and "The Last Song's" Liam Hemsworth.
