Jennifer Lawrence will become the first actress to work in a Steven Spielberg film in 30 years. The 24-year-old actress has been roped in by team Spielberg to work in a new film based on the memoir of an American female war photographer Lynsey Addario, who went to various parts of the world to shoot different aspects of a woman's life. The Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Addario's memoir is titled “It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love And War.”

The “Hunger Games” actress has beaten the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman and Margot Robbie, among others, to bag the role of Addario in the upcoming film by Spielberg, writes Deadline. Various film studios like Working Title and The Weinstein Company were pitching in for the same story after the excerpts of Addario's book were published in The New York Times magazine. Following the success of “American Sniper,” Andrew Lazar will produce this film, reports the website.

The film will show the story of the 41-year-old war journalist Addario, who has captured the lives of victims of various wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Darfur and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Addario was also kidnapped by pro-Quaddafi forces in Libya in 2011. The book details her experience of one-week kidnapping and also how she escaped death.

Various websites are also questioning if Jennifer will be the right choice to play the role of Addario in Spielberg's film because of her age. “We’re a little concerned that Lawrence is a bit young for the role—not because she won’t completely knock it out of the park, but Addario is currently 41, and it would’ve been a great opportunity to give a quality role to an actress over 40,” writes Dan Van Winkle from The Mary Sue. No further details of the film are available.

Spielberg's last female lead was actress Whoopi Goldberg in the 1985 film “The Color Purple.” This film is also based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Alice Walker. It is based on the story of an American-African girl named Celie Harris (played by Goldberg) who lived in the early 1900s. The film highlights problems on poverty, racism and sexuality.
