Conor McGregor always tries to stir controversy. This is the man, who envisioned a threesome with co-UFC talent Meisha Tate and Ronda Rousey, taunted current champion Jose Aldo after his UFC Fight Night win in Boston, and began declaring the featherweight class as the “McGregor division.”

With his date with destiny drawing nearer with the July 11 fight with current featherweight king Jose Aldo at UFC 189, leave it up to the Irish sensation to continue to bring the hype to the upcoming title bout. In the last leg of the world tour promoting the fight in Dublin, “The Celtic Tiger” brought some raucous after stealing the belt from Aldo and hoisting it over the scrambling UFC President Dana White. The 26-year-old McGregor explained that it just dawned upon him after Aldo blinked, giving him the opportunity to actually snatch the belt from him.

“He blinked, and then I had the belt. You blink, and then the next thing you know the belt is around my waist. I am fast," McGregor explained in a video uploaded by the UFC.

White confirmed the story and added that McGregor really had some swift movements up his sleeve, slipped past him, and next thing he knew they were playing tug of war with Aldo’s belt. He heaved a sigh of relief by adding that it was fortunate that the up and coming superstar went for the belt and not the champion himself, which of course could escalate the situation even more.

While White was amused by the prank, Aldo was stoic in his reaction again referring to McGregor as the clown. The Brazilian champion maintained that it is in his rival’s nature to play to the crowd and when the cameras are not rolling, the usually trash talking Dublin, Ireland native keeps to himself and is “nothing but a piece of [expletive]”

McGregor remains confident in his ability to take down not only the current champion but the whole division as well. He had some choice words for his rivals in the featherweight class and added that only when his opponents beg for him to stop terrorizing will he only leave the division. He concluded the interview by saying that he also has his sights set on moving up in class to lightweight and conquering another reigning champion in Rafael Dos Anjos as soon as he has proven his point over Aldo.
