Boxing News: DeMarcus Corley States Floyd Mayweather Jr. Will Win ‘At Least Eight Rounds’ Against Manny Pacquiao
One of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s sparring partners, veteran pugilist DeMarcus Corley is saying that the undefeated American will easily win against Manny Pacquiao in their super fight in Las Vegas in May. Corley is an experienced boxer who is preparing for his own fight on May 16 against another Manny— Manuel Perez for the World Boxing Federation lightweight title.
Nicknamed “Chop Chop”, Corley’s prediction is specific: that Mayweather Jr. will win most of the rounds against Pacquiao and that Mayweather Jr. will win in a dominating fashion.
“No not really, he’s gonna dominate the fight regardless of how the fight plays out. He’s gonna beat Manny Pacquiao eight rounds out of twelve, easily,” Corley, who is from Washington, District of Columbia in the United States, shared to ontheropesboxing.com. “Yes, eight rounds to four. Floyd will win the fight”
Corley (42-22-1, 25 KOs) has fought and lost to Mayweather Jr. way back in 2004. The fight 11 years ago was for the World Boxing Council light welterweight title eliminator and Mayweather Jr. dominated with scores of 119-107, 118-108 and 119-108 on the way to the 12-round unanimous decision victory. Owing to his stance— Corley is a southpaw like Pacquiao— the 40-year-old boxer was tapped as one of the sparring partners of Mayweather Jr. in the training camp for the super fight against Pacquiao.
Corley, who is a former light welterweight champion, was also asked about Mayweather’s progress in the training camp saying that the undefeated American is “moving great” and that Mayweather Jr. doesn’t move like he’s 38 years old showing great legs and looking good in the sparring sessions.
The Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0-0, 26 KOs) versus Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KOs) super fight is set on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and is considered the “Fight of the Century” owing to the hype and anticipation of the bout.
