Chris Pratt believes objectification of the body is not wrong. For him, women should not be objectified less to achieve gender equality, but men should be objectified more.

Speaking with Yahoo UK, Pratt talks of how he feels about being considered a heartthrob and an eye-candy for many since starring in hit movies such as “Guardians of the Galaxy” as well as the most recent blockbuster, “Jurassic World.” According to him, it feels totally fine to be “an object of desire,” something feminists wants people, especially men to curtail when it comes to females and female artists.

According to the actor, the objectification of his body is helping his career. He said viewers wanting to see more of his body and toned physique are helping him get leading roles, one after another. Therefore, he does not “feel appalled by it.”

He said he does feel bad that for a long time only women’s bodies are being treated as objects of desire. However, instead of advocating to avoid treating women’s bodies as objects for gender rights and equality, the actor said that men’s bodies should be objectified more to even things out. "“I think it’s appalling that for a long time only women were objectified, but I think if we really want to advocate for equality, it’s important to even things out,” he said. “Not objectify women less, but objectify men just as often as we objectify women,” he added. He also think that it is not only him, or males, who profit from being objectified. He detailed that there are many women whose career boomed because their bodies are treated as objects and considered desirable. Therefore, he would use his body to his advantage as well. He added that at the end of the day, all people’s bodies are objects anyway.

With the success of “Jurassic Park,” Pratt just cemented his image as a sexy leading man. Objectification really did him good because his net worth was boosted. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Pratt is now going to receive $12 million for his movie “Passengers” with Jennifer Lawrence. The original amount was $10 million. Even without the increase of $2 million, Pratt’s current net worth is certainly a far cry to what he used to be valued. For “Guardians of Galaxy,” he only received $1.5 million and for “the Lego Movie,” only $900,000. The figures were significantly smaller on the more earlier projects too.
