Kanye West, Fashion Week Creator Fern Mallis, Patch Things Up
After Fashion Week creator Fern Mallis dissed Kanye West’s attitude and the rapper fashion designer slams back, things are said to be better between the two strong personalities. Instead, it seems that Mallis has a new fashion icon that she does not like: Model Lauren Hutton.
New York Post reported that Mallis and West’s reconciliation comes in a form of a formal invitation for West to be part of the “Fashion Icons” interview series. Reportedly, Mallis recently proposed a meeting with West at the 92nd Street Y, where she is hosting the interview series. “His publicist got in touch with us and asked if we could send a formal invitation,” Mallis shared. The Fashion Week creator however still does not have a fixed date when she would be able to sit down with Kanye, but she said they need to “book it” or move on because of her very busy schedule.
Fern is said to be occupied with the release of her book “Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis,” which would feature several interviews with fashion-related icons. However, even though her spat with Kanye is now over and done with, she is now not a fan of another “icon,” model Lauren Hutton. Fern said that even though she loves Hutton “to death,” interviewing her was challenging. She said Lauren was very fidgety and all over the place while being interviewed. “In the middle of it, she asked if she could have a cigarette . . . She tried to change the lighting in the middle of it and the seats and I was just like, ‘What’s going on here?’
Last month, after Kim Kardashian's husband unveiled his Adidas collection for Fashion Week, Mallis shared that she is not a fan of the rapper’s music nor his attitude. She later clarified that she was not dissing the singer’s fashion designing capabilities after Kanye wrote her an open letter detailing the hardships he had to went through to become a designer. Mallis accepted the letter with grace, suggesting that they should talk. She however, stood by her words that she is not a fan of Kanye’s music, but stating that this is only because she has a different taste and not really because his music is bad.
