Kate Middleton And Prince William Register Birth Of Their Baby Daughter Princess Charlotte
Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William have formally registered the birth of Princess Charlotte, according to Kensington Palace. The Duke of Cambridge signed the birth register at Kensington Palace that was witnessed by a registrar from Westminster Register Office. The princess, who was born overdue on May 2 at 8.34 a.m., weighing a little over eight pounds, is fourth in line to the throne.
The document gives the date and place of Princess Charlotte’s birth, and her full name as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, according to BBC. William and Kate have paid tribute to the Queen Elizabeth and the former’s mother Diana, Princess of Wales, choosing their daughter’s full name as Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Elizabeth met her great grandchild for the first time on May 5 at Kensington Palace. Charlotte’s grandparents along with Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton already visited the baby princess soon after she was born. [Check The Pictures Here]
Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles and Michael and Carole Middleton have met their little granddaughter and spent time with the princess at the palace. Princess Charlotte is just five days old but now there is speculation on what month she might be christened. Royal watchers are waiting for the announcement to come by and July currently stands as the bookies’ favourite.
Prince George was christened in October 2013, three months after he was born and his sister is expected to be dressed in the same gown for the christening ceremony. The gown is an exact replica of Queen Victoria’s first child’s gown, worn 174 years ago, and has been used for every generation of royal babies. After 62 royal babies wore it, including the queen’s father, King George, the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry, the gown was remade by the Queen’s dresser, Angela Kelly, in 2004.
The royal couple have now headed back to their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall in queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate. Having spent her first few nights at Kensington Palace, the princess travelled with her parents to their Norfolk home. The country retreat will be their base until at least the end of the month and probably most of the summer.
