Kate Middleton’s Royal Baby No. 2: Gifts For Princess Charlotte From Australia, New Zealand, Israel And Canada
Prince Charlotte Elizabeth Diana maybe only a few days old but she has been the recipient of gifts from across the world. The Australian government has sent a blanket and is set to make a donation to a possum sanctuary to honour the birth of the Kate Middleton’s royal baby daughter.
According to BBC, apart from Australia, president of Israel Reuven Rivlin has presented her with a pink dress. “From Israel with love,” words embroidered on the dress for Princess Charlotte.
Reuven Rivlin and his wife Nechama Rivlin have presented the royal princess with a beaded brooch which has a hamsa symbol (a sign of protection in the Middle East) and a heart-shaped charm. They have also sent a dress for Kate Middleton’s royal baby no. 2.
“For me this closes a circle as I learned to be a dressmaker in London, and I am delighted that my design has been sent as a present to the new princess,” said Sharona Barzilai, designer of the dress.
Meanwhile, president of Australia Tony Abbott stated that Tasmanian merino wool’s cot blanket has been sent to the princess on behalf of the people of Australia. The wattle (Australian floral emblem) has been embroidered on the cot blanket which was made at Waverly Woollen Mills in Tasmania, regarded as the oldest weaving mill in Australia.
Apart from this gift, a donation of $7998 will be made to the Healesville Sanctuary, Victoria by the Australian government. Abbott stated that he hopes one day Princess Charlotte could hold a Mountain Pygmy-possum in Australia.
A range of woollen baby items has been presented by New Zealand. These items are made by Hutt Valley company, according to Independent. Elsewhere, Canadian Monarchist League’s Ottawa branch has gifted a pair of moccasins made of sealskin.
Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born in St. Mary’s Hospital on Saturday, May 3, 2015. On Tuesday, the Queen met the royal princess for the first time.
