Kate Upton On Nude Photo Scandal: 'People Don't Have A Right To Look At Those Photos Or To Judge Them'
Model Kate Upton has finally broken her silence on the leaked nude scandal, where private nude pictures of her and many other celebrities were hacked and posted on the Internet in 2014. The 22-year-old swimsuit model remained silent on the issue until now but spoke about it in her recent interview with a magazine. Calling it as an “invasion” to her privacy, the Sports Illustrated model said it was “illegal” too.
"It was very difficult," Kate is quoted as saying to the London Evening Standard in an exclusive interview. She said it was “not OK” what happened to her and many other celebrities because the leaks were an invasion of her privacy. “It’s illegal. People don’t have a right to look at those photos or to judge them," the model-actress added about the photos.
The nude photo scandal, also referred to as The Fappening, lasted for several weeks last year with several private pictures surfacing of stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens, Kaley Cuoco, and several others. Victims of the scandal voiced their opinions, criticised it, urged their fans to boycott such sites where the pictures were available; and even asked people not to share those links. Many celebrities like Ariana Grande denied that the leaked nude photos belonged to them.
However, Kate maintained her silence on the issue for one year. “The Other Woman” actress also said that she “fantasized about leaving Twitter and Instagram” but did not. “Hunger Games” actress Jennifer Lawrence and other actors also called the nude photo leaks as an illegal sex crime.
However Kate has moved past from the scandal and focused on a career in Hollywood. Her next film is with “Glee” actress Lea Michelle and is titled “The Layover.” It is a “road-trip sex comedy,” said Kate about the upcoming film. In an era where being skinny is equivalent to beautiful, Kate has changed the trend and focused on being “strong not skinny.” The gorgeous bikini model says that she is happy to set a good example for girls and would feel great if she could “help girls who are going through body-image issues.”
