On April Fool’s, Katy Perry accidentally played a joke on herself when she uploaded a video of her dog on Instagram and Twitter wearing a dog collar with her personal digits displayed. Fans quickly pointed out her oversight on social media. The “Roar” singer allegedly received a lot of calls from crazed fans, forcing her to deactivate the number.
The fame Katy Perry had to deal with can really be overwhelming, as this incident attest. According to a lookalike of Katy, being a celebrity twin can already take a toll on her, what more it could for the real Katy. Speaking with Elle.com, Francesca Brown shared that having an uncanny twin-like features as Katy changed her life.
She said she would be mistaken everywhere and then chased. She would also have children running after her, and all sorts of people wanting a picture with her. She said she always try to admit that she is not Katy, but she said it can be difficult to do, especially to kids, as if she is letting them down. Brown added that no matter how many times she changed her hair color to set her apart from Katy, she would still end up being recognized as Katy. Although she did not think she should take advantage of her similarities with Katy Perry because this can affect her serious dream of becoming an actress, she shared that doing impersonations of Katy ultimately became a part of her.
Speaking about what Katy must be feeling being really famous from her own perspective as a celebrity twin, she shared that it must be scary and overwhelming for the real Katy. However, despite the craziness, she said Katy, and herself are lucky because Katy’s fans are all nice, happy, and lovely. “She’s really loved out there, which is helpful. It’s helpful if you look like someone who’s loved because I can only imagine what it must be like if you look like someone who [isn’t], who must get abuse from the street rather than people being nice to you,” she explained.
