Katy Perry took home the award for "Best Female Act" at the 2013 MTV European Music Awards on Sunday and enthralled the audience with her rocking and sky-high performance on her song "Unconditionally." The 28-year-old arrived in style at the awards night in a all covered-up mint green outfit which was a contrast to the much revealing outfits which Miley Cyrus and other singers wore.
Perry's mint-green dress from designer Zac Posen revealed her curves and was a fresh colour that complimented her skin tone. She accessorised her dress with a vintage Dolce and Gabbana headband and Chanel earrings. The brunette beauty completed the look with light pink high-heeled Charlotte Olympia pumps which revealed her bright red toe nails.
The "Roar" singer however soon stripped off to reveal a bejewelled bodysuit when she got ready for her performance. Perry was up for two awards on the night, "Best Female Act" and "Best Pop Act." Perry won the coveted award after defeating her stiff competitors like Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.
Perry gave a touching performance on the soulful number "Unconditionally," which happens to be the second single from her highly successful latest album "Prism," at the awards show. The singer's performance was no less than a magic show. A flying and suspended-in-air Katy Perry flew over audience and then slowly rose out of a purple-lit stage. Perry was draped and wrapped up in huge pink, purple and teal robe which was then used by the backup designers to weave ain interesting pattern around her. [SEE VIDEO]
"It's a challenging performance; it's unlike any of the performances I've done before," Perry told MTV News on the EMA red carpet. "It looks like I'm being abducted, basically ... and also there's a bit of a magic trick in it - I'm not getting sawed in half, I'll do that later - I'll be floating in space."
"For tonight's performance of UNCONDITIONALLY on @mtvema I will be letting the LIGHT in & then making you SHINE! #dontneedtobehighforthis," singer wrote on Twitter before her performance.
Other big winners of the evening were One Direction who took home the awards for "Best Pop" and "Best UK & Ireland Act." Band member Harry Styles received the "Best Look" award.
Miley Cyrus won "Best Video" for her "Wrecking Ball" music video and Justin Bieber took home "Best Male." Eminem received both the "Global Icon" and "Best Hip Hop" awards, and Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" was given the "Best Song."
'Elsewhere,' '30 Seconds To Mars' were named "Best Alternative Act," while Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took home the "Best New Act" award.
