Actress Kerry Washington talks about her "Scandal" character Olivia Pope and what is in store for her in the upcoming Season 3. The 36-year-old Emmy-nominated actress revealed in a recent interview with TheWrap what the excited viewers can expect when ABC's political drama series returns with the secret affair already exposed.

In the Season 2 finale, it was revealed that Olivia Pope is the mistress of U.S. President Fitzgerald Grant portrayed by actor Tony Goldwyn. Ms Washington shared that viewers will "pick up moments later" from the ending last season.

The revelation will certainly cause an outbreak of problems for Olivia Pope personally and professionally. When asked if her character is the type who would seek revenge particularly on the person responsible for exposing her affair with President Fitz, Kerry answered: "You'll find out. You'll find out in the premiere. She's committed to following the path of what is most ethical. Faced with this scandal and that commitment it's a conflict and it's exciting."

As Kerry Washington digs deep into her character Olivia Pope, the actress shared that she finds working with creator Shonda Rhimes really fascinating. "Because it's almost the exact opposite of how actors normally approach the process of creating a character. With Shonda, we're constantly discovering more and more about the characters as you go along. I've never really worked in television, it's an exciting way of working for me to keep getting this information that you need to thread into the character," Kerry explained.

The "Scandal" Season 3 promo video has been released featuring intense scenes from the upcoming episodes. The teaser video shows Olivia Pope really bothered with the things bound to happen now that her name was exposed out there as the President's mistress.

Rowan Pope, Olivia's father, even warned his daughter that "they will gut you and everyone you know" since White House Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene already wants to start the "kill folder on Olivia Pope." Additionally, First Lady Mellie Grant is determined in destroying President Fitz with her threatening statement: "I will pull out our laundry and I will share it with the world."

"Scandal" Season 3 premieres on Thursday, October 3, at 10 p.m. ET at the ABC television network.
