Kim Kardashian Feared Her Career Was Over After Divorce From Kris Humphries
Kim Kardashian West is on top of the world. However, she admits that just a couple of years ago, she thought her entire career was over. She hit rock bottom when her marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries fell apart back in 2011 and she thought that it was the beginning of the end of her and her family’s careers.
"At the time when I was going through the divorce I did say to everyone, ‘You guys I think our careers are over. I hope you've saved your money,” said Kim. She spoke to The Drum last week during the Cannes Lion Festival in France. Durig the interview, she spoke about her 72-day marriage to Humphries. The pair wed back in 2011 after a whirlwind romance that led to a wedding and a TV special entitled “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event.”
People were already critical about the expedited romance and televised wedding but the backlash got worse when Kim called it quits after only 72 days. Fox News reports that Kim became paranoid and thought that she and her family were going to lose their celebrity status. She reportedly told her family that they should get ready to go back to what their lives were like before their show started airing.
She said that after her marriage fell apart in front of the camera, she needed to take time off for herself. She decided to cancel all of her business engagements in order to regroup. The long divorce process didn’t help her either. Her ex-husband accused her of using him for publicity and refused to grant her a divorce. He finally caved two years later in April 2013.
Most of the Kardashian-Humphries marriage was documented in the spin-off series “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.” Kim and her new husband moved in with Kourtney Kardashian, her partner Scott Disick and their young son Mason. The relationship was strained from the start and the living arrangement didn’t help. The entire breakdown of the marriage was documented all in one season.
Kim and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan shot to fame in 2007 shortly after the release of her now infamous sex tape. This resulted in the premiere of the reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Soon after that, the family managed to expand their retail fashion business into a multi-million dollar empire that includes books, fashion, health and beauty products as well as mobile games. They also make a lot of money off personal appearances and other showbiz-related endeavours.
Despite Kim’s fears that her divorce will ruin everything, she eventually got back up and married world-famous rapper Kanye West. They wed in a lavish European ceremony that was covered by media outlets the world over. To date, she is still one of the most photographed women in the world.
