Kim Sears Responds To Her Foul-Mouthed Antics During Fiancé Andy Murray’s Australian Open Semifinal Clash
Everyone was talking about Andy Murray’s fiancée Kim Sears after video clips of her, believed to be swearing during Murray’s semifinal match at the Australian Open, went viral on social media. On Feb. 1, Sears became the talk of the town again when she arrived at Melbourne Park wearing an oversized T-shirt that reads “Parental Advisory: Explicit Content,” in which many people thought was a perfect response to her critiques.
Instead of going ballistic over the subject matter, Sears chose to address the controversy of the video of her expletive-filled rant in a cheeky yet fashionable manner. The social media was abuzz with reactions from tennis fans and even Murray’s colleagues. The social media users seemed to all commend Sears’ fantastic wittiness.
German professional tennis player, 28th-ranked Sabine Lisicki, thought that Sears’ sense of humour was a good one. Lisicki even shared to her more than 250,000 followers a snap of Sears with her Parental Advisory shirt during the men’s final.
British therapists Nik and Eva Speakman also applauded Sears owning the potty mouth with her startling top. The Speakmans tweeted that Sears just made one of the greatest comebacks in the history of tennis.
Murray has already spoken to defend Sears after his semifinal clash against Tomas Berdych. According to the British No. 1, it is completely normal to say something when there is a lot of tension in a match.
Unfortunately, Sears’ vicious support for her fiancé wasn’t enough to save Murray from his fourth Australian Open finals defeat. Murray lost to Novak Djokovic in the tension-filled finale on Feb. 1.
Murray lost 7-6 (5) 6-7 (4) 6-3 6-0 in a four-set match, making him the only player in the Open Era to lose in the Australian Open finals four times. In 2010, Murray lost to Roger Federer at Melbourne Park. He also lost to Djokovic three times, in 2011, 2013, and 2015 at the 2015 Australian Open.
Sears and Murray have been together for nine years. They got engaged in November 2014. Murray has previously said that he intends to marry Sears in 2015.
