'Kingdom Come: Deliverance' Devs Talk PS4, Xbox One Performance, Hint At Oculus Rift Support
"Kingdom Come: Deliverance" is a massively ambitious open-world RPG currently in development at Czech videogame developer, Warhorse Studios. Unlike so many of its contemporaries, the Kickstarter-funded project eschews the fantastical in favour of the everyday, featuring no magic, no dragons or strange creatures, choosing instead to focus on historical fiction.
While “Deliverance” will hit PC first, the game is also in development for Xbox One and PS4. In an exclusive interview with IBTimes Australia, Warhorse's Jiří Rýdl stated there was still a lot of optimisation work to be done on the console builds but shared the development team's current performance targets.
"On consoles we aim for 900p/30fps for now," he said. "We will work on the optimisation in close cooperation with Crytek and aim for 1080/30fps or even higher later in the development.”
On the subject of PC system requirements, Rýdl reiterated there was still a lot of optimisation work left to be done before the game's release in mid-2016. He did say, however, that if gamers were able to play titles such as "Star Citizen" and "The Witcher 3," they'd be able to play "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" comfortably.
Discussing the possibility of VR integration in the game, Rýdl was coy, stating only that the team recently received Oculus Rift dev kits. He went on to add that more news on the VR front may come at a later date.
As noted by Eurogamer, "Kingdom Come" has recently been delayed for some time with a new target release date in 2016, as the developer aims to ensure the game meets the highest level of quality possible. Backers who have pledged a minimum of $45 are able to gain access to the ongoing Tech Alpha releases, with a beta set for later this year.
In a previous interview with Gaming Bolt from March 2014, Warhorse founder Dan Vávra stated the game will be split into three different acts, with the first act taking place on a landmass the size of the open world featured in Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption." A second act will be set on a smaller map, while the third act will take place on a large map.
Check back for more on Monday, April 27, where Rýdl will reveal details regarding gameplay and side quests. He'll also go into detail about the game's intriguing reputation system and discuss one of the major features coming to E3 Tech Alpha that will be made available to backers around E3.
