Kiwi gamers still have half of the month to register for the second annual Call of Duty Championship. The New Zealand Online Qualifier will be awarding one team spot to the Call of Duty ANZ Finals in Sydney on March 1st.

Interested gamers from NZ have until January 31 to register, while for Aussie gamers, the registration is open from January 9 to February 1.

One team from the NZ Online Qualifier and three teams from the Australia Online Qualifier will have a chance to compete at the finals in Sydney. Also, there are four additional teams that may compete in the finals through the Preliminary LAN Qualifier in Melbourne. All eight teams will then compete against each other for the local prize of $15,000 at the ANZ Final in Sydney.

The top two teams will be representing their countries on the 2014 Call of Duty Championship in Los Angeles from March 28 to 30, where they will face off with 30 other teams from all over the world for the grand prize of USD1 million and the title of “World Champions.”

“Last year’s championship came down to the final minute of the final match with everyone holding their breath to see who would win. The skill, passion and energy brought by these teams and the crowd looking-on showed just what makes our community the best in the world,” Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, said in a statement.

“Call of Duty is more than a video game. It’s a pastime shared by millions. It’s exciting to play and fun to watch, and we can’t wait to see what this year’s even has in store.”

The 2014 Call of Duty Championship will serve as the first official competitive Call of Duty event played on Xbox One.
