The first laptop to ship with Google's Chromium operating system will be available for in Australia and the United States today. The Kogan Agora is the first device that will run on Google's open source Chrome OS.

The Agora runs on 1.30 GHz Intel Celeron M ULV processors, a 30GB SSD. 11.6" inch LCD display and Bluetooth support. The laptop also has a 1.3 megapixel webcam and a three-in-one pro card slot. It also has an HDMI output and a 3.5 hour long battery. The Agora also boasts an instant on system that can be fully booted up in five seconds. Overall this isn't the most impressive of laptops but the selling point is the fact that this is the only laptop that runs the Chromium OS. Google hasn't been forthcoming about when their official Chrome OS laptops will arrive Down Under, so for Australian techies eager to get their hands on the Chrome OS the Kogan is their best bet.

Google has differentiated the Chromium OS as their 'developer build' used by developers and with code that anyone can modify and build on. Users can still access the cloud storage- a system that allows users to store and run everything from the Internet or the so-called "cloud". It's not certain just how much access the Chromium will have to the cloud.

Kogan Technologies has offered laptops cheaper than other wholesalers and distributors by selling laptops directly from China. The Agora isn't any different. It costs around $372 to $440 and will only be available in the United Kingdom or Australia. It's cheaper in Australia so if you want a relatively inexpensive laptop just for the Chromium OS then the Kogan will fill your needs just fine,
