Recent rumours have pointed out the “Metal Gear” series creator Hideo Kojima, has left gaming giant Konami. The developer has then responded to the rumours saying that Kojima is still a part of its staff.

Rumours of Kojima’s departure from Konami started after a part of company’s staff revealed to The New Yorker that he attended a farewell party for the famous game creator. However, Konami has stated that the rumours were false and that Kojima was only away for a vacation after he was removed from the credits of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain”. That being said, Kojima is still part of the company.

In a report by Kotaku via Tokyo Sports, a spokesperson for Konami said that Kojima is still listed as a company employee. The spokesperson added that Kojima took an extended vacation leave, that was a apparently a norm among developers upon completion of a project.

“Currently, Kojima and the development team are finished developing Metal Gear Solid V and are taking a long time off from work,” said the Konami spokesperson to Tokyo Sports. He added that“Because the development time for console games is so long and fatigue builds up, it’s common for employees to take extended periods of time off when development is finished.””

However, it’s not yet determined how long Kojima will stay at the company. Rumours about his imminent departure from the company began after the fallout between Kojima and Konami.

Kojima has been working with Konami for 29 years now and he has spawned many series for the company including “Metal Gear” and “Silent Hills.” The game creator is currently holding a contract for Konami that will last until December this year, Gamespot reports. However, the company is yet to confirm whether or not Kojima will extend his stay.
