Kylie Minogue Seduces Perth Arena With Kiss Me Once World Tour
In red glittering corset and a pillbox hat, Kylie Minogue's silhouette seductively emerged from blinding lights, draped across a pair of giant red lips, opening the Australian leg of her “Kiss Me Once” world tour at Perth Arena Saturday night. She broke into "Les Sex" as she blew kisses to her fans calling out, "Well, good evening Perth! How are you feeling?"
She then continued to “Into My Arms” and “Timebomb,” with a number flanked by dancers contorting in the background. Fifteen minutes into the show, several dancers covered for Minogue’s costume change. She re-emerged in a two-piece outfit with a collar and tie, performing crowd favorites such as “Step Back In Time” and “Your Disco Needs You." She then addressed her fans once again, expressing her excitement to be on the Aussie stage again, even joking about the mosquitos. "We should have a competition -- if you can guess how many mosquito bites I have, you win a prize," she said.
Despite the “Kiss Me Once” album being No. 1 in Australia last year, the Perth Arena was only two-thirds full and the crowd was seemingly passive during the first half of the show. It was only when Minogue invited “Godfather of Disco” Italian producer Giorgio Moroder to the stage for their rendition of “Right Here, Right Now,” the first time it was ever performed live, that things got a little noisier. The two remained on stage for a cover of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love.” Minogue considers the duet as beyond her wildest dreams. The stage was then transformed into a plastic Barbie wonderland after another dance break, showcasing Minogue singing a few 1980s hits in a bathtub.
The “Kiss Me Once Tour” is the 14th concert tour by the Aussie-native recording artist. It kicked off in September last year in England, travelling for the most part in Europe. It moved Down Under with its first night in Perth Arena. Minogue last performed in WA at Burswood Dome in 2011, Perth Now reported.
