Lady Gaga's "ARTPOP" Releases, Singer Flies in 'Volantis' - Her Flying Dress [SEE VIDEO]
How far can Lady Gaga go to promote her new album "ARTPOP?" She has gone nude on the cover art of her album, performed naked at many occasions, wore shocking dresses, and got her sculpture made too. But the "Applause" singer has never run out of ideas and has now unveiled a flying dress!
The 27-year-old singer entered the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York on Sunday in a white vehicle-dress called "Volantis." The dress is a made in a curvy, female silhouette serving as the body piece and can actually fly. The masterpiece fibre optic dress is created by engineer Benjamin, and designer Nancy, and has a symbolic meaning attached to it. Gaga sees herself as a "vehicle" for today's youth.
"I wanted to make today about something even more important to me. And what that something is the youth of the world. Benjamin and Nancy are here with me today. Their minds are just so boundless. They are so inspiring. Although she is a vehicle, she is essentially a metaphor for me," she said of Volantis.
"I will be a vehicle today for their voices... Youth all over the world," Gaga added.
Gaga then demonstrated her battery-powered metal dress with six booms in a hex formation dress by stepping on to it and taking a bit of a flight. The contraption lifted her up in the air at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where she held a launch party for her new album "ARTPOP" which releases worldwide Monday.
According to Gaga, it "maybe a small step for Volantis" but "a big-time step" for Lady Gaga, who dreams of performing in Space in future! Gaga was seen wearing the black leotard with white sparkly boots and a helmet as she rode her dress.
"We realized her potential for the world," she explained. "Right now she's priceless. The money thing is really not me. What we're trying to say is, we can do anything Imagine the possibilities."
After her mini-flight, Lady Gaga unveiled her massive white Jeff Koons-designed sculpture with a gazing ball situated right between her legs. The same statue is used on her latest cover of album "ARTPOP."
