A recent April Fool’s Day tweet from “The Last of Us 2” director Neil Druckmann gained a lot of talks from fans. Fans believe that his tweet may be a clue to the storyline of the upcoming sequel.

Director of the game Neil Druckmann reveals in a tweet, “When you’re lost in the darkness look for the light. Believe in the…” This tweet is followed by a photo of a cartoon render of a firefly. Players of the first instalment of the game know that there’s already a saying “Look for the light” with a firefly logo. However, many wonder what his tweet means. (See tweet below.)

The meaning of the tweet, according to a fan, is the association with the symbol and the motion of Lights, which is the group called Fireflies in the first instalment of the game. It is an important faction that represented the first part of “The Last of Us.” The fan suggests that the Fireflies may play a major role in the upcoming instalment of “The Last of Us 2.” In addition to this, Druckmann is known to provide a bit of news about his upcoming games.

Storyline

A couple of days before April 1, Druckmann also shared a link about the possible storyline of the upcoming game. The link involves Naughty Dog’s CEO Evan Wells and his thoughts on the storyline of both “Uncharted 4” and the upcoming sequel of “The Last of Us.” In the video interview with Game Informer, Wells mentioned that their studio that creates the game has some growing pains. In addition to this, they have to roll back the drive for developing two full dev teams for the upcoming games. However, he also mentioned that the Naughty Dog team will be working on finishing up the upcoming “Uncharted” sequel while the second instalment of “The Last of Us” is still in its early stages.

Release date

With the news of “The Last of Us 2” still in its early stages, there are fans that wonder if the game will really be released sometime within the year. On the other hand, there are a lot of fans who believe that the game will be finished and sold this 2017. Some fans, however, still think that the game may be available in 2018 as it will be at least a five-year gap between the first instalment and the next.
