‘The Last of Us 2’ release date: Upcoming game will explain why Ellie is immune

“The Last of Us 2” release date is said to be released by the end of 2017. Many speculations lead to the story of the upcoming update telling players how Ellie found out she was immune.

There are speculations as to what the storyline is for the upcoming instalment of “The Last of Us.” Some of the fans speculate that someone might be having a flashback in the upcoming sequel. While that remains unconfirmed, what is known to many is that the story will be set five years after the end of the first game. Many questions were unanswered since then and fans hope that the sequel will bring light to these questions. One of which that fans are raving about is how Riley and Ellie found out that Ellie was immune.

Many fans of the game know that Joel had a daughter named Sarah in “The Last of Us.” In an interview with creative director Neil Druckmann, he mentions that Sarah played a valuable part. The character allowed players to build a relationship with her. However, she was taken too soon in the game. On the other hand, this allowed players to go through the game through Joel’s eyes. However, the same will not be said in the upcoming game as Ellie is speculated to be the playable character.

Aside from Ellie taking over from Joel, there are also speculations that Joel will be dead. However, according to the short description of the game, Joel and Ellie will be back. Therefore, other speculations give way to create a possible storyline.

According to Druckmann, both Ellie and Joel will be back to give players another “intense, harrowing and emotional adventure.” In a released trailer, Ellie was revealed to be driven “to find and kill every last one of them.” It is not known if she was referring to those who were infected or the Firefly group. Some fans even go to say a new group may be introduced for Ellie to hunt down, according to a Reddit thread. As of the time of writing, no new information from Naughty Dog or other sites reveals what the real game storyline can be.

Release date

As mentioned earlier, there is currently no release date available for “The Last of Us 2.” However, it is said that the game will be released sometime in 2017. On the other hand, it could be released in 2018 as well, according to the Wolf Hall.
