Latest Galaxy Note 3 Rumours: Samsung Phablet Remains Wrapped in Plastic Casing on Release Date
Samsung has opted again to deploy a dominantly plastic-wrapped Galaxy Note 3 on its rumoured Q3 2013 release date, the change of heart reportedly to avoid further delays on the phablet's global rollout pegged for September.
That means Samsung fans will be getting the third flagship phablet serving in the same cheap-looking case as that of the recently released Galaxy S4, SamMobile said in a report.
The news runs in counter with previous claims, also of the same site, that the South Korean tech giant was planning to upgrade the build materials of its flagship lines. The supposed move was seen by analysts as Samsung's reaction to the emergence of other smartphone flagships that boast of metal chassis and protective glass screen.
However, hopes for a more premium-built Note 3 were dashed this week as Samsung appears struggling to meet its device rollout schedule, with the company forced to axed planned upgrades in order to deliver in time.
The Note 3's metal housing is the latest casualty of Samsung's reported production woes. In an earlier report, the firm had to jettison the phablet's supposed flexible display screen and opted instead for OLED display component just so production can start by late July.
Yet to compensate for the slight disappointment, the Note 3 will at least present a more improved look of the GS4, with SamMobile hinting that phablet fans can expect a slim, light and thin profile despite the Note 3 landing with a 6-inch Full HD Super AMOLED phone screen.
The device will most likely feature a less-bezel look, further improving on the edge-to-edge GS4 screen design, the same report said.
It also remains as an Exynos Octa 5 powerhouse, poised to showcase an 8-core chip that will power the upscale camera combination of 13MP on the rear snapper and 2MP at front.
The star of the Galaxy Note 3 show would be the latest Android edition, which is still a toss between Jelly Bean 4.3 and Key Lime Pie. Regardless, Samsung will put its newest concoction of TouchWiz on top of Google's mobile operating system.
The third-gen phablet is widely rumoured to debut via the 2013 IFA event in Berlin on September though many analysts are convinced that Samsung will opt for a follow-up on its Episode 1 launch of the Galaxy S4 in New York last March 14.
The Galaxy Note 3 Unpacking or Episode 2 is likely to take place between September 1 and 5 or a week before IFA, earlier reports said.
