Minecraft Xbox 360 TU 12 may still be with Microsoft for cert testing, but those who want to enjoy new maps, adventures, and a new feature may want to test out these Community Creations, as featured in the Minecraft Forums.

What you will get are three things: a one-of-a-kind door activated only by horses (or horses with riders on them), a very scary horror adventure map,

Make a Horse Door

Ever want to create a door where players can only pass through while they are riding horses? This is now made possible without needing command blocks, cheats, or mods.

"I'll be honest when I say I didn't believe it could be done just from the description--how would you even make a pressure plate detect just horses, for example--but Cnwy has pulled it off, and it is quite remarkable!" notes the Minecraft blog.

What you will need to create the horse door are 24 blocks of your choice, but the creator prefers that the blocks that you'll be choosing should have half-slab versions, as you will need six of those. You will also need 4 pistons, four pressure plates, two redstone torches, and 12 redstone dust.

Building the door is fairly easy, and makes use of pressure plates and redstones in a very clever manner.

To build the door, check out this video, which gives a detailed, step-by-step demo on what you need and where to build it.

The Staircase horror map

Scare your pants off in what could be one of the most exhilarating and scary experience in Minecraft with The Staircase, which takes its inspiration from the horror game Never-ending Staircase.

In the game, you can't even sprint while you're immersed in the darkness and surrounded by rumbling, scary noises--what you would expect from scary adventures. This gives you an overall experience of being trapped in a dark place, wandering aimlessly.

Expect a series of jump scares, scary noises, and never ending staircases which it takes its inspiration from. In the forum, the map is described to make use of new command block/resource pack features in the 1.6.2 for a scarier experience.

To install the map, just follow these steps:

  1. Download the map here.
  2. Open up %appdataa% and browse to .minecraft/saves.
  3. Drag and drop the Staircase Horror Map Folder into the saves.
  4. Browse to the .minecraft/resourcepacks.
  5. Drag an drop the Staircase Resource Pack Zip file into the resourcepacks folder.
  6. Run Minecraft, go to settings, click on the resource packs.
  7. Select Staircase Resource pack, load the map, and get ready for some scary exploring.

Ghast Cannon Tower

Ghasts can be very nasty, with the ghost-like appearance foreboding fireballs heading your way. But in this particular survival mode video, you can see how a Ghast can be transformed to become a defense system.

The good thing about using Ghasts in this manner is that you can easily aim the fireballs that they shoot at, instead of doing random shots in the hopes of letting loose on something. The video displays just how you can control the way the Ghast fires a fireball.

You have to be in survival mode in the setup to play this kind of defense system. Basically, you won't be fired at when you're in that mode, but you can easily operate the Ghast Cannon Tower.

Check out the video to see the demonstration. Docm77 also features video tutorials on catching a Ghast, transporting a Ghast out of Nether, and making the Ghast into a pet--all of which can be helpful in creating your Ghast Cannon Tower.
