Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword to Boost Wii Holiday Sales
Nintendo intelligently managed to secure their sales for the holiday season with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii.
This latest addition to Nintendo's RPG game for Wii will be out on Nov. 20, but it's pre-order marketing strategy was a hit as it was reported to be the at top 5 best selling pre-order product at Bestbuy.com.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The game will make use of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral for sword-fighting. It will have a revised Wii Remote pointing system used for targeting.
The game will be sold as both a bundle with a golden Wii Remote Plus and as a standalone game, and will include a CD containing orchestrated tracks of iconic music from the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword following the Legend of Zelda's traditional flow of gameplay, though it is enhanced with artistic graphics as it explores the overworld and dungeons.
Even before its release, The Official Nintendo Magazine (ONM) gave Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword the ONM Gold Award with score of 98% during its first review on Oct. 20, making it the highest rated over all game for Nintendo. ONM also praised the game and called it the best Zelda game ever made, making it the highest rated Wii game. It tied the rank of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, while Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess got the same ratings of 97%.
In the scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest score for the best games released for Wii, Edge and Game Informer gave the The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword a perfect 10 score while GamesTM gave it a 9.
Nintendo had the initial release of its bundles games in October when it released the Wii Black Console Bundle with New Super Mario Bros - Wii and Music CD at $149.99.
Gamers should watch out because The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword's scheduled release will be as follows: Europe - Nov. 18, 2011; North America - Nov. 20, 2011; Japan - Nov. 23, 2011 and Australia - Nov. 24, 2011.
