Lenovo has been successful in its venture in the PC department, but it does not stop there. The company has also been releasing tablets and hybrids for the past few months. With its latest release of the Miix 2, can the new tablet hold its own against the tried and tested ThinkPad Tablet? Which Lenovo should you get?

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 is considered the "the best-looking Atom Windows 8 tablet yet, and the optional keyboard dock is excellent. All-day battery life makes it great for travel," as quoted from CNET.

Specs include:

  • Intel Atom Processor Z2760 with DC/4T 1.8GHz Burst, 1.5GHz HFM, 600MHz LFM
  • Windows 8 32 Operating System
  • Pre-downloaded Office Home and Student 2013
  • 64GB SSD
  • 2-cell Li-Polymer Battery, 30 Wh

The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 features a 10.1-inch screen plus 16:9 ratio HD WXGA. The screen comes with Multitouch IPS and 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. The device is not named among the best looking combos around for no reason. Its keyboard dock fits perfectly with the design offering an interesting appeal and different level of functionality. However, people may have to get used to the fixed screen angle: a prevalent issue among hybrids.

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 starts at $629 with a reliable industrial design.

Lenovo Miix2

Lenovo's Miix2 won the third-annual Tablet World Series 2013. This should say a lot about the device. The device sports an 8-inch screen and scored around 75.86 percent according to a report from Laptop Magazine. This is a second year that a Windows tablet won the World Series. In 2012, Microsoft's Surface won. Other tablets that competed included the Surface Pro 2 and the iPad Mini with Retina Display.

Features of the tablet include:

  • HD 1280x800 display
  • Multi-touch, 178-degree-wide viewing, and a 16:10 widescreen
  • 2GB LP-DDR3 memory
  • 32/64GB eMMC storage

The Lenovo Miix 2 features a light and compact design. It runs on Intel's Bay Trail quad-core processor. Because the device runs on Atom technology, this means Miix 2 can run faster and longer compared to the previous generations. The device measures 5.8" x 8.48" x .32" and weighs .77 pounds. The device comes with a 5MP rear camera, 2MO front camera, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and 3G-GPS3 connectivity, including 7 hours of battery life.

The Lenovo Miix 2 is great choice for those in budget. Those looking with higher specs can upgrade to Lenovo ThinkPad.
